Center of Educational Studies
The Center of Educational Studies (CoES) is the research institution of the PSE and unites researchers from the subject didactics and educational sciences - especially post-docs and professors. It pursues the following four goals:
Expanding the third-party funding strength of Bochum's subject didactics and educational sciences
Promoting interdisciplinary networking and supporting collaborative research
Supporting empirical research methods at all levels of academic qualification
Expanding international visibility of Bochum's research in the subject didactics and educational sciences and support international research projects (e. g. “Self-Regulated Learning in Digitised Schools (SeReLiDiS)”)
RUB-internal conferences are held regularly. At these conferences, CoES members present research ideas and give feedback and suggestions on current research topics or projects. This leads to close networking among CoES members and possible joint applications for third-party funding. In addition, joint activities of the CoES are discussed and coordinated to meet common needs.
Members of the CoES can take advantage of several funding lines, which strengthen internationalisation in particular. Twice a year, members can apply for financial support to:
Visit another research institute abroad to work on and publish a research article
Translate or proof-read articles for publication in international journals
Invite an international guest researcher
Reduce teaching commitments to work on a proposal for third party funding
In addition to the funding lines, CoES also offers its members structural science support. Members are informed at regular intervals about relevant specialist conferences and calls for proposals for third-party funding via an e-mail distribution list and an up-to-date overview of dates. The application process for collaborative research by CoES members is also supported by a coordinator.
The CoES addresses professors and post-docs from the subject didactics and educational science departments at RUB.
